Next 2022 Session: November 7, 14, 21, 28 / December 5, 12
Beginner’s Mind is a six-week series created specifically for those who have little to no experience with yoga, but are keen to learn in a safe, non-judgemental environment. You will learn about the different styles of yoga, fundamental yoga poses and terminology, the health benefits of a yoga/meditation practice, and a little bit about the history of yoga. After this six-week series, you will feel comfortable attending an All-Levels community class.
If you would like to give yoga a try, but are nervous about getting started, this is a relaxed and fun introduction.
Requirements: Please bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing.
Next Workshop Dates:
Friday, Sept. 30, 6 - 7:30 PM
Sunday, Oct. 2, 11:30 AM - 1 PM
Cost: $60 / $45 for members
In this two-day workshop, participants will learn about the first two limbs of the Eight-Limbed Path of Yoga, as set out in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras almost 2,000 years ago — the Yamas & Niyamas. Sometimes referred to as the “dos & don’ts” of yoga, the 5 Yamas and 5 Niyamas are guidelines that help us to live a more purposeful and meaningful life.
On the first day of this workshop, we will explore the Yamas, the “don’ts”; on our second day, we will explore the “dos”. Durning each 90-minute session we will moved through a gentle, all-levels class, while being guided through each tenet with pauses in between to meditate, journal and discuss our thoughts.
Participants will receive a workbook to keep and continue their studies.
This workshop will be taught by Balance Yoga owner, Katera Zappacosta.
