Welcome Spring with an evening of rest and restoration!

Also known as “sleep with awareness”, Yoga Nidra is a systematic way to get through the layers (koshas) of our body to a deep state of relaxation and bliss.

A wonderful way to relieve stress, relax the body, and down-regulate the nervous system.

Blankets, bolsters and eye pillows are available at the studio, but feel free to bring your own comfortable supports for this practice.

After this six-week series, you will feel comfortable attending an All-Levels community class.

If you would like to give yoga a try, but are nervous about getting started, this is a relaxed and fun introduction.

Myofascial release is a form of self massage that employs the use of foam rollers, MFR balls, blocks and techniques using the hands.

In this workshop, we will learn how to use all of these tools as a means to explore tension in the body, specifically in the neck, shoulders, hips, legs and feet.

Gentle movement will be interspersed throughout the workshop as we explore the benefits of the MFR.

Join Katera Zappacosta and Michelle Van Lare for a deep exploration into the Energy body as described in the Eastern traditions of Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Learn about the Nadis and Chakras through the lens of Yoga and modern psychology. Explore the Meridians with a view to TCM and contemporary applications through Yin Yoga and acupressure.

How were these energy maps created? How are they similar? Where do they diverge?  Is there any proof that these channels exist? How can these ancient user’s manuals to the subtle energy maps of the body be applied to our lives today?

These are some of the questions that will be discussed in this workshop, while we explore the essence of these ancient energy lines through movement, breath and stillness.

In this two-day workshop, participants will learn about  the first two limbs of the Eight-Limbed Path of Yoga, as set out in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras almost 2,000 years ago — the Yamas & Niyamas. Sometimes referred to as the “dos & don’ts” of yoga, the five Yamas and five Niyamas are guidelines that help us to live a more purposeful and meaningful life.

On the first day of this workshop, we will explore the Yamas, the “don’ts”; on our second day, we will explore the “dos”. Durning each  90-minute session we will moved through a gentle, all-levels class, while being guided through each tenet with pauses in between to meditate, journal and discuss our thoughts.

Participants will receive a workbook to keep and continue their studies.

This workshop will be taught by Balance Yoga owner, Katera Zappacosta.
